Your TIMA allotment won't be official until TEA determines the distribution. Even so, it's pretty clear that Texas school districts are looking at somewhere around a 60% REDUCTION in their Technology and Instructional Materials Allotment from the previous biennium.

IMCAT's Legislative Counsel Colby Nichols explained the Legislature's action—which reduced funds for instructional materials by more than $620 million—during IMCAT's recent Summer Institute. Use this link to see his report about the 87th Regular Session.

Individual school districts' TIMA distribution will vary because of enrollment changes and other factors that TEA will use for its calculations.

We know: You were hoping for a healthy allotment in this biennium to prepare for HUGE proclamations that are looming on the horizon:

  • 2024: Science K-12, Tech Applications K-8
  • 2025: Social Studies K-12
  • 2026: Math K-12

As Colby explains, the legislators have signaled that they won't do the same thing next biennium. We'll see. But for now, we're going to have to make do with a lot less.
